TEMPORARY MONUMENT: ATL/LEX is a pop-up exhibition in a 10,000 square foot space inside 325 Main Street in downtown Lexington. It will be on view during weekends and by appointment between April 11-May 2, 2026. It is free and open to the public during weekends (Saturday and Sunday, 12-5 pm) and by appointment.
A series of events including tours, panel discussions, and live performances will be presented throughout the run of the exhibition.
Taking its format from two previous projects organized by The Temporary Art Center (TAC) in Atlanta, this Lexington exhibition makes connections between emerging and established artists who live and work in both cities. Their works will be presented together for the first time.
The art on view includes painting, sculpture, photography, drawing, and site-responsive installation; and explores aspects of figuration, abstraction, materiality, and popular culture. Many of the works engage the physicality of the space itself with its columns, floor-to-ceiling windows, exposed ductwork, and concrete floors.
TEMPORARY MONUMENT: ATL/LEX presents a breadth of creative activity at a moment in time, meant to stimulate questions about how distinct environments can foster artistic development and nurture talent.
This project is made possible by a unique partnership between curators Stuart Horodner (UK Art Museum), Scott Ingram (TAC), and Leah Kolb (2nd Story), working with cultural producers Daniel Freed and Katherine St. Paul Hill). Real estate developer Kathryn Kaufman who is in the process of bringing a vision for the property at 325 Main Street to completion, has generously contributed the space for this project.
This exhibition has been generously sponsored by Visit LEX, John Wieland, Tim and Lauren Schrager, Bill and SueSue Bounds, Mitchell Klink, John Eckel, Stan Cohen, Rebecca and Michael Cochran
